I commute by train from Bhayander to Vashi to my office, one day when I was in hurry as I had been 5 mins late which meant I could be 15 to 20 mins late for my office, I saw a man lying in pain and crowd had gathered around him at station, as I was already in a hurry, I couldn't afford to wait a minute to inquire about that person, this episode faded with the day, but when I tried to relax back towards my ride back to my place did I realize how inhuman we have become in the hustle bustle of this city and that sight kept following me all throughout, that’s when I realized some small changes that can bring bigger changes to our lives, which am listing down here as a checklist for me and for all the people like me who have lost their true selves to the fast forward life of Mumbai city! That day its was not my nature to not inquire but more about the situation that forced me to behave that way, and like me am sure there are many others who are forced to behave the same way I did due to the situation that we are in! Here's the list which I keep urging myself to follow for a day if not much, just following 1 a day also will make a huge impact! Let’s check!!
1. Try to leave 10 mins early !
Try to leave 10 mins early then your scheduled time so that you have time for your conscious self, also this will help in keeping you healthy as you don’t have to hurry which also reduces your stress of reaching late, getting rick, getting train etc.
2. Help at least one person daily !
Try helping one person daily and see the happiness it brings to yourself, you don’t have to make it great and monetary help is not that I ever considered as help! There are many more small ways of helping people who need it, e.g., offer help to disabled cross the road, offer your seat to someone elderly or someone who needs it more than you, help someone find the way who is new to city, you can offer to help someone at your office also if they are going through stress or if they have some urgency and timelines are road block for them and many more such ways!
3. Make at least one person smile !
Its not a rocket science to make people smile, I had read when I was in school that smile multiplies, so follow the mantra, may be just some soft words or even a smile from you can make someone’s day better! Also you will feel happy from inside after doing this! Try it yourself if you don’t believe me ;-)
4. Go one day without mobile !
By saying this I don’t mean you literally stop using your phone as its a way to connect during emergency as well, but instead use it only if its necessary rather than using its as a source of entertainment by playing those games or listening to music and indulging yourself into mobile world rather than real world, if you are not using mobile you are sure to observe people around you and you will notice life is much better with you than so many more people in the world, and this will also bring a big change in the What you see life!
5. One day, zero complains !
Go one day without complaining even once about your life, situation, and everything that you might be complaining about daily! And see the way it changes your life bring about lot of positive and affirmative outlook towards life!
6. Bunk your office !
Remember when you bunked your college, and went out with friends
So why not do it now, you don't have to grow up for a happy life rather have your roles as need be! Bunk a day at office and spend time with your friends like you did in college and you will know life is fun and we have complicated it by being so stressed and serious about anything and everything, by worrying about things that are too small to even think about!
7. Meet yourself !
When was the last time did you had time for yourself? Don't remember? Its the same with everyone, in hustle bustle we have even forgotten our true selves, take at least 15mins to 30mins daily for yourself and do what you like, Play, listen to your favorite band, read your favorite author or follow your hobby and be yourself!!
8. Donate 1 day !
Donate 1 day of your month's salary and 1 hour of your day in a month to orphanages or old age homes, think of it how children without their parents would be living or parents whose children have disowned them in this phase of life would be living, sounds like a pain that you never even heard of! Right! This ones sure to make you very content from inside and will soon become part of your life! Your extended family!!!
9. Go with the flow !
You don't have to control your or anyone else's life, rather live yours and let others live theirs! Stop cribbing about pity things people did to you, that will only bring you misery, rather ignore the bad, adopt the good and go on, move ahead! Peace will follow you!!
10. Be with your family !
We all get weekly off but ask yourself how much time have you really spent with your family? Even after spending hours at home, most of us are either indulged with tv, mobile or some other electronic source of entertainment, instead talk to your mom about her chores, discuss issues with your dad, and fight with your siblings, those stupid fights brought so much laughter and lively time our place when we were kids, so why leave that kid behind, let the kid in you come out and live your life! Trust me this is going to be super duper fun! ;-)
Life is not about being serious, but its more about fun, to live, its too short for all the anger ,and misery you bring to yourself by thinking of things which are of least importance! So bring on the fun and enjoy every moment of this life!
